Single and in a relationship are just titles. Your heart determines your true relationship status.

For the 15th time in a row now, I have been single on Valentines day. Okay fine, for the first 13 years, I was immature and did not exactly understand the concept of love. But hey, even after I turned 13, my luck hasn’t changed.
Guess what though? Being single is amazing. Why? Because it provides the freedom which would be unavailable if you were in a relationship.
If you are still depressed over the fact that you might be ‘forever alone’, allow me to console you by providing some examples of how remaining single is more beneficial than being in a relationship.
- You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. There is no one to stop you. And you have no reason to stop what you’re doing.
- You can lay down and relax without anyone objecting to your laziness.
- You can easily mingle with the opposite gender and make new friends without a partner getting the wrong idea.
- There is no need to deal with grumpy, moody personalities and try to make them feel better. If you’re a guy, then you know how females can get when they’re angry.
- You will not be nagged for reading the newspaper/magazine, or even playing video games/watching movies.
- There is no need to worry for anyone except yourself.
- You can buy whatever you want, without being asked “Why do you need that?”. If you want an action figure, some gadget or even a fancy hat, no one will oppose your decision.
- Once again, if you’re a guy, there’s no need to keep the place clean. You could be literally be living in a garbage dump, yet there is no one to do anything about it.
- No more arguments on petty issues.
- Peaceful nights (no snoring).

I know that sometimes it gets depressing when you realize that you’re probably one of the rare people who’re alone. But what you must understand is that the benefits of this far outweigh the disadvantages.
And in order to avoid further sadness, just don’t celebrate Valentines Day. Instead, celebrate “Singles Awareness (or Appreciation) Day” (S.A.D). It’s not like you need to be in a relationship to enjoy life.
Enjoy the fact that you’re single. It’s one of the blessings given to mankind. Enjoy your freedom, create new friends and ignore the taunts.
